Coronet Peak Opening This Saturday For A Taster
Coronet Peak is opening two weeks earlier, offering loyal customers and local Queenstowners, who see the Peak every day, a one-day taster ahead of the season.
The ski field, which is 20 minutes from downtown Queenstown, will be open on Saturday June 2nd on Queen’s birthday weekend. Its official opening day is Saturday June 16th.
New Zealand’s first commercial ski field, Coronet Peak, turns 70 and the party is this Friday
In 1947 Coronet Peak in Queenstown opened with just a rope tow pulling keen skiers up a mountain, the first commercial ski field to open in New Zealand.
Seventy years have passed and the ski field is now running eight lifts, welcomes thousands of guests on a fine weather day, has the largest snow-making system in the Southern Hemisphere, boasts the longest day on the snow with first tracks through to night ski, and has come to be loved as one of the best ski experiences New Zealand has to offer.
That Time We Got Married In The Snow
Our wedding day in New Zealand included flying by helicopter to The Remarkables, then flying to Coronet Peak and snowboarding down the mountain! So seeing as it is our wedding anniversary today, I thought I would post up some pics and share that oh so fun and special day with you.
